The departmental council of Finistère has decided to abandon the Signal project, the national lighthouse center, planned for Brest.

"The project did not meet any local expectations," explained the department.

The investment costs were considerable and kept going downhill ”.

The cost of this interruption is estimated at three million euros.

The work was stopped in July.

The press release also indicates that "The communities concerned - the Brittany region, Brest metropolis and the department of Finistère - will soon present their choice of development for the first spur, in close collaboration with the architect of the Buildings of France".

Renovation of the Ouessant museum

The departmental council has undertaken to reinvest funds in the renovation of the lighthouse museum in Ouessant (Finistère) to the tune of 7.5 million euros and in the creation of a conservation center for the collections of lighthouses and beacons. in Gouesnou (Finistère) for 2.1 million euros.

The budget will be used to "finance priority spending [such as] the creation of 20 places in a home for the disabled [or] the complete renovation of three colleges".
