Since the worst drama that occurred in the North Sea on November 24, investigators have been working to identify the 27 victims of the shipwreck.

According to the Paris prosecutor's office, in charge of the investigations, only one body remains anonymous to this day.

The victim identification commission met on Monday to report on the progress of its investigations.

It turns out that 26 of the 27 migrants who died at sea could be "formally identified", said the Paris prosecutor's office on Tuesday.

Mostly Iraqi Kurds

Fifteen of the 27 victims were Kurds from Iraq and one Kurd from Iran.

Most were men between the ages of 19 and 37.

But there were also 4 women, a 16 year old teenager and a 7 year old child.

The other victims were from Ethiopia, Somalia, Afghanistan, and Egypt.

The prosecution specifies that no pregnant woman was among the victims.

Only one victim remains anonymous and a burial permit has been issued under X, which does not end the investigations to try to identify him.

The 26 other victims, taken care of at the Lille legal medicine institute, can now be buried.
