At the Zoo and Botanical Garden in Sasebo City, Nagasaki Prefecture, you can see meerkats, who are not good at cold weather, warming up in pots, entertaining visitors.

Meerkats are animals about 30 cm in length that live in the savanna of the African continent, and are characterized by standing on two legs to sunbathe and watch.

At the flora and fauna "Mori Kirara" in Sasebo City, Nagasaki Prefecture, a clay pot, commonly known as "Meerkat Pot", is prepared every year in a corner of the breeding ground so that Meerkats, who are not good at cold weather, can spend the winter comfortably. I am.

At around 3:00 pm when the sun was out, three animals kept outdoors in turn entered the pot to groom and stand up, and we also saw two animals entering the pot together. Was groomed.

Mr. Ko Yoshida, who is in charge of breeding, said, "When it gets cold, you can see it going into the pot, so I want you to enjoy taking pictures of" Meerkat pot "and feeling the seasons."

This "Meerkat Pot" is scheduled to be installed until around February next year.
