British writer J.K. Rowling has faced online harassment again.

On her Twitter page, she posted a link to a material that speaks of the intention of the Scottish police to register rapists as women if they insist on this, although they have not officially changed their gender.

“War is peace.

Freedom is slavery.

Ignorance is power.

The penis-carrying man who raped you is a woman, ”Rowling wrote, citing George Orwell’s novel 1984.

War is Peace.

Freedom is Slavery.

Ignorance is Strength.

After these words, a flurry of criticism fell upon the writer.

Users of the social network again began to accuse Rowling of hating transgender people, emphasizing that such statements are attacks on them and have nothing to do with protecting women.

“Damn it, I thought it was a joke until I saw it with my own eyes.

Trans women are women.

What an awful, awful woman J.K.

Rowling.

I'm not ashamed to think of a trans woman as a sister, but I'm ashamed that Rowling is a woman, ”the user writes.

Another blogger claims that, according to statistics, transgender people are much more likely to be victims of sexual violence than criminals.

In addition, according to several people, Rowling does not take into account that biological women can also commit crimes of a sexual nature.

“Trans women exist.

Trans women are by no means more sexually abusive (than other people -

RT

), just as you can't say that all trans women or trans individuals are rapists.

This is a hidden message for non-transgender radical feminists and other fanatics.

And it's disgusting, "- says one of the messages.

Trans women exist.

Trans women are not, in any way, more prone to rape, nor are all trans women or trans individuals rapists.

This is a dogwhistle for TERFS and other bigots.

And it's disgusting.

However, some bloggers supported J.K. Rowling.

They criticized the Scottish police's approach to such a classification of criminals and called the accusations against the writer absurd.

“It's absurd that J.K.

Rowling says, "Hey, I don't think a man pretending to be a woman to rape a woman is actually a woman."

And people are like: "How dare you doubt the sincerity of the rapist?" - writes the user.

Many commentators agree that this police decision is a serious public concern.

“Throughout the UK, police keep crime statistics based on gender identity, not gender.

This puts psychological pressure on the victims, deprives the data of meaning and hinders the development of the criminal justice system at all levels, ”the author of the publication states.

Another blogger does not dispute the rights of transgender people, but emphasizes that they should not be considered women without proper surgery.

A lawyer from Scotland shared her experience on a social network, saying that she had repeatedly encountered various "legal absurdities", but the situation to which Rowling drew attention is especially important and dangerous.

“As a lawyer for 20 years and justice secretary for almost eight, I've seen some legal absurdities.

But this tops it all and is dangerous ”- @KennyMacAskill.

Yes indeed, it is.

Thank you for highlighting and respect to @jk_rowling for standing up for women.

Some bloggers explain the essence of the problem - because of such orders, male rapists end up in women's prisons and continue to commit crimes.

“Recognizing violent men as women is state-sanctioned violence against women, both psychological and physical,” reads a publication on the women's rights page.

The harassment of the writer began in June 2020, when J.K. Rowling tweeted a post about "menstruating men."

The writer sarcastically that "these people used to have a name."

“Help me remember - bribes?

warriors?

women? ”Rowling wrote.

Then the author of "Harry Potter" was accused of transphobia, because in her statements, according to users of social networks, she did not take into account the structural features of transgender people.

Several commentators noted that Rowling's post also insults women with health problems.

Subsequently, the writer explained that she did not treat trans people with hatred.

According to Rowling, she only wanted to emphasize that the elimination of the concept of gender "will deprive many of the opportunity to meaningfully discuss their lives."

However, this did not solve the problem.

In the fall of the same year, the situation escalated against the backdrop of the release of a new book by Rowling, one of the heroes of which was a transgender serial killer.

Then Twitter users launched the hashtag #RIPJKRowling (Rest in Peace, J.K. Rowling).

Rowling has repeatedly said that she regularly receives threats and angry comments, including promises to "beat, rape, kill."

In November 2021, activists opposing the writer's position posted her home address on social networks.

At the same time, Rowling noted that she did not intend to stop her activities "to protect women's rights": "I have already been threatened with death so many times that I could have pasted over the whole house with these threats, but I did not stop speaking."

The writer is opposed not only by commentators on social networks, but also by fan communities dedicated to "Harry Potter", as well as by actors who starred in the films of the franchise.

In November, it was revealed that J.K. Rowling would not be filming the Harry Potter special, which will air on HBO Max on January 1, 2022.
