Zhong Nanshan, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, talked about the epidemic trend and response measures at the life sciences sub-forum, said that Omi Keron has allowed the world to slowly realize that China's approach is right.

  The occurrence of a new virus in Omi Keron has also brought many new problems.

But everyone in many countries has noticed that this problem has been noticed very early, and many measures have been taken when a dozen or as many cases have been discovered, and some are also adopting more stringent transfer control measures, starting from more than one year or two years. From the practical experience, I gradually realized that China’s approach is right.

We started strong control from the source and from the upstream. At the same time, we carried out self-protection and community-wide group prevention and group control throughout the country.

  [Explanation] Zhong Nanshan pointed out that the current response to the new crown epidemic is still facing many difficulties, and the top priority now is to inject vaccines to achieve "herd immunity".

He said that by the end of 2021, he is confident that China's vaccine injection rate will reach 83%, laying a solid foundation for herd immunity.

  According to the assessment of "Nature", if China's vaccine is 70% effective, according to this calculation, if China wants to achieve theoretical herd immunity, the number of people who need to be vaccinated needs to reach 83% of the entire population. Now we have vaccinated 11.5. 100 million is the entire vaccination process, accounting for 81.9%.

  [Explanation] Regarding the emergence of Omi Keron, Zhong Nanshan mentioned that Omi Keron has brought many new problems. He currently does not understand the law of transmission, pathogenic mechanism, early case development, etc., and he also knows better about medical and pharmaceutical aspects. Therefore, all countries must work together to carry out interdisciplinary research in this area.

He called for relying on science and technology to solve problems, while at the same time strengthening global collaboration.
