"Tonight France is more beautiful because New Caledonia has decided to stay there," Emmanuel Macron said this Sunday after the overwhelming victory of the non-independence camp (96.49% of the vote, against only 3.51% for yes supporters) during the third and last self-determination referendum.
The separatists having decided not to go to the polls, the participation rate collapsed to 43.90%. The loyalists, who feared a demobilization of their supporters, for lack of stakes, managed to collect 75,762 votes, against 81,501 votes in the 2020 referendum.
You live in New Caledonia, did you vote or abstain this Sunday? Do you support the independent camp or the loyalist camp and why? How did you experience this election and the result of this third and last self-determination referendum. How did you perceive the statement of the President of the Republic? How do you see the continuation of the discussions announced by Emmanuel Macron with government representatives? You can testify in the form below. Your contribution can be used to write an article. Thanks in advance !
