The Heidelberg Regional Court sentenced a 14-year-old to nine years in prison for the murder of a 13-year-old boy. On Friday, after extensive evidence was taken, the Great Youth Chamber saw it as proven that the victim was lured into a wooded area near Sinsheim-Eschelbach on February 24th. According to the court, the defendant stabbed the unsuspecting and defenseless boy in the back and neck area a total of seven times with a knife. This died a little later on site. The judges named treachery as a feature of the murder. The now convicted youth initially denied the crime, but later confessed. The verdict is not yet legally binding.

The fatal attack with a kitchen knife shook even die-hard detectives. Mainly because the victim and the perpetrator are very young. There was also a twelve-year-old girl at the scene of the crime, about whose role there is much speculation. Officially, it was only said that the motive for the fatal knife attack was jealousy. In its communication on the judgment, the court does not comment on the convicted person's motives either. The process was carried out in camera for reasons of youth protection.

The public prosecutor's office and the accessory prosecution had previously requested that the defendant be sentenced to a youth sentence of 10 years for murder.

The defense had called for a seven and a half year sentence for manslaughter.

In the case of deliberate homicides, the penalties for juvenile prisoners range from 6 months to 10 years.
