The incidence rate of Covid-19 recorded in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence is the highest in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region.
It recently reached 689 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, reports

This figure is also one of the highest nationally.
By way of comparison, the department had 60 people infected out of 100,000 a month earlier.
"It's blazing," summarized the departmental delegate of the Regional Health Agency (ARS) Anne Hubert.
About fifty classes are currently closed in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence.
The youngest inhabitants are particularly affected by the epidemic.
The contamination figures have nevertheless skyrocketed within all age categories, from 9 to 70 years.
Impact on hospitals
The situation has created complications in local hospitals caring for coronavirus patients.
“More than 90% of patients are not vaccinated,” noted Franck Pouilly, director of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence hospital group.
At 74%, the departmental level of vaccination is slightly lower than the national average even if "there is a very strong demand for vaccination", indicated Anne Hubert.
