The interview was done by host Charlamagne tha Gods own Youtube channel.

Early in the conversation, Travis Scott is asked when he learned that people in the audience had been injured and even died during the concert.

- I did not know the exact details until the minutes before the press conference, after my gig.

And even then I thought "wait, what?".

That people faint can happen during concerts, but something like this ..., he says.

Scott: "Did not notice anything"

According to the rapper, he did not hear any screams or noticed that something was wrong in the audience during the show.

From the stage, with pyrotechnics, headlights and poor visibility to the outside, it was difficult to perceive what was happening, he says.

- You can only see what you see and when they tell you to stop the concert, it is only when you stop.

Scott has hosted the Astroworld festival in his hometown of Houston since 2018. The chaotic events occurred after Scott went on stage on November 5.

Around 50,000 people were in the crowd when panic broke out.

Ten people in the audience were crushed to death and about a hundred were injured.

Keep playing

Travis Scott has been criticized for not stopping playing despite police and rescue services being alerted to the scene.

Police say that Live Nation agreed to cancel the show prematurely, as several people had become unconscious.

But according to concertgoers, Travis Scott continued for over half an hour.

Several relatives of those who died and were injured have filed a lawsuit against the artist and the organizer Live Nation.

The amounts of damages sought are in the billions and the legal process can potentially last for years.

Scott himself says that he has met several of the families who have lost their relatives.

- They lost their loved ones, I just always want to be there for them, I will fix this and make sure it does not happen in the future.
