An F16 fighter at Misawa Air Base in Aomori Prefecture dumped a fuel tank during flight and made an emergency landing at Aomori Airport. The resolution was unanimously passed.

On the 30th of last month, one F16 fighter at Misawa Air Base of the US Army dumped two fuel tanks near a residential area in Fukaura Town, Aomori Prefecture, and made an emergency landing at Aomori Airport when heading for training.

Regarding this problem, on the 9th, all six parliamentary groups of the Aomori Prefectural Assembly urged the US military Misawa Air Base and the national government to thoroughly investigate the cause, inspect and maintain the aircraft, and prevent recurrence. We have submitted a resolution to Congress urging the F16 flight to be suspended until the state confirms its safety.

After that, a vote was taken at the plenary session, and the resolution was unanimously passed.

Mr. Ichizo Mihashi, Chairman of the Aomori Prefectural Assembly, said, "I would like to consider how to convey the contents of the resolution to the national government. I would like the US military and the national government to accept the resolution."
