Toyota Motor Corp. announced that it has suspended some lines at its two domestic plants in Tahara City, Aichi Prefecture, due to a shortage of parts due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection in Southeast Asia.

According to Toyota, the "Tahara Plant" in Tahara City, Aichi Prefecture and the "Miyata Plant" in "Toyota Motor Kyushu" in Miyawaka City, Fukuoka Prefecture will start producing the luxury brand "Lexus" from the afternoon of the 8th. It means that the operation is stopped.

The operation will be suspended by the 11th at the Tahara Plant and by the 10th at the Miyata Plant.

Toyota says that the spread of the new coronavirus infection in Southeast Asia has reduced the attendance rate of local parts suppliers, resulting in a shortage of parts.

In addition, the number of vehicles affected by this suspension of operations on production is 3,500.

Toyota is in full swing to restore production, which had been depressed due to a shortage of parts, to the original level, but the operation from next week onward is undecided so far, and it is said that the situation will be determined and judged. I would like to pay close attention to the status of infection and the degree of tightness in domestic logistics. "
