American comedian and presenter Nick Cannon announced the death of his five-month-old son, Zane, after suffering from a brain tumor.

The 41-year-old broke the news on his latest episode of The Nick Cannon Show on YouTube, telling his fans, "I've had a very difficult week."

Zane was born in June and Cannon remembers the moment he and his partner, model Alyssa Scott, were told that their son had fluid buildup in the brain, and they discovered he had a malignant brain tumor.

“We immediately had brain surgery and a stent placed in his head, and we were hoping for the best,” Cannon said. “But the tumor started growing so much faster that he died after things took a turn for the worse by Thanksgiving.”

Speaking of his youngest child, Cannon said: "He is the most loving.

He was always smiling, and he always had the most beautiful soul."

"Not only could we see the sunrise, but we could also see the sunset," he added, crying. "I hugged my son one last time. He was still beautiful."

Cannon's speech was met with cheers from fans watching inside the studio, people exchanged supportive messages on social media, and then ended the show by saying, "You never know what someone's going through, hug your people, hug your family, tell them you love them."

It is worth noting that Nick Cannon has seven children, including Zane, and the eldest of two is with his ex-wife, Mariah Carey.
