The radio is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year and Paris Première has decided to put it in the spotlight.

The channel broadcasts this Wednesday evening at 11 pm a documentary on this medium which has accompanied the daily life of the French for a century.

A program that its directors, Laurent Boyer and Jean-Marie Pasquier have decided to tell by theme.

It is a medium that accompanies millions of listeners every day, from their cars or their bathrooms: the radio.

If it is less listened to at the moment, Paris Première has rightly decided to honor it for its 100 years, with a documentary broadcast on Wednesday evening,

100 years of radio, the best of the airwaves

.

The opportunity to offer a reminder so as not to forget that it has always offered beautiful moments to the ears of the French for a century.

"Pay tribute to the radio"

Moments of closeness, of confidences, of cult interviews, but also of History. These most striking moments are retraced in a one-and-a-half hour program based on the book by Danielle Moreaux, columnist on Europe 1,

Les enfants de la radio

.

For two years, Laurent Boyer and Jean-Marie Pasquier worked on the production of this documentary and interviewed many hosts with one thing in common: their love of radio.

And this passion begins with that of Laurent Boyer.

"It's true that we all love radio, it's an incredible medium and we all come from radio roughly speaking. Even though now some are great TV hosts, they've been great radio hosts and passionate ", he explains at the microphone of Europe 1.

"For me it was a way of paying tribute to radio and to this medium that I love so much", he continues.

"I have met so many people, I listened to it so much and I made a lot of my career there. I have been doing radio for 40 years and it is my love for radio that has kept me going. had this documentary made. "

A documentary on the great periods of radio

But how do you relate 100 years of radio in an hour and a half? For the directors, choices had to be made, but not that of telling it chronologically. No, the idea was rather to tell it by theme. "We made a magnifying glass on editorialists, political journalists, on 6/9, 12 noon, 6 pm ... We found the hinges of the great periods of radio but it was very complicated to find the editorial line and to be able to do 90 minutes of it, ”explains Laurent Boyer. "We had gone for two 90 minutes, but we had to make choices and drastic cuts that break my heart."

Laurent Boyer is therefore co-authoring this documentary with Danielle Moreau and Jean-Marie Pasquier.
