On the 8th, 80 years after the attack on Pearl Harbor, a memorial service was held in Shizuoka City where the bereaved families of the pilots who participated in the attack gathered.

This memorial service was held at Shizuoka Sengen Shrine by Hiroya Kanno (88), a doctor in Shizuoka City, who experienced the "Shizuoka Air Raid" that killed about 2000 people.

Mr. Sugano has been memorializing not only the citizens but also the American soldiers who died on the crashed bomber for about 50 years, and has been visiting Pearl Harbor almost every year since 30 years ago. However, due to the influence of the new coronavirus, this year was the first local memorial service to be held.

On the 8th, about 30 people gathered and all of them prayed silently, and then the dogwood, which was given as a symbol of friendship by the United States, was sacrificed by pouring water on the water bottle of the remains of American soldiers recovered from the crashed B29 bomber. I mourned the person.

Yosuke Matsuzaki (77), the eldest son of the pilot who participated in the attack on Pearl Harbor, also participated from Takarazuka City, Hyogo Prefecture. I thought I had to. I want the younger generation to think about what to do to avoid repeating the tragedy. "

Mr. Sugano said, "I couldn't go to Hawaii, but it is significant that a memorial service was held locally. There are various ways of thinking, but I would like to convey that December 8th is an important day." I was talking.
