Interview Serrat and education
The Government of Spain has announced after its Weekly Council of Ministers that it will grant the
Grand Cross
of the Civil Order of Alfonso X el Sabio to singer-songwriter Joan Manuel Serrat, in accordance with the proposal of the Minister of Education and Vocational Training, Pilar Alegría.
The Grand Cross is awarded to outstanding individuals for their contribution to the development of education, science, culture, teaching or research.

The Government, in its announcement, has justified the award in Serrat's "brilliant career" and "contribution to Spanish culture and art."
The recognition coincides with the announcement of the first dates of
Serrat's farewell tour
,
El vicio de cantar 1965-2022,
which will tour Spain between June and December 2022.
As reported on Tuesday by the promoter The Project, the singer will perform on
June 8
at the Murcia Bullring, on June 11 at the Euskalduna Palace in Bilbao, on June 30 at the Valencia Bullring and on June 3. August in the Plaza de Toros de Alicante.
Afterwards, it will be on September 17 at the Navarra Arena in Pamplona, on September 23 at the Granada Bullring, on October 8 at the Kursaal Auditorium in San Sebastián and on October 12 at the Príncipe Felipe Pavilion in Zaragoza.
On December 13 he will sing at the WiZink Center in Madrid and on December 23 at the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona.
Tickets for Serrat's concerts will go on sale on Thursday from 10 am through jmserrat.com, elcorteinglés.es and El Corte Inglés centers.
