Symptoms of high cholesterol .. a warning sign that may lead to blindness

High cholesterol is a concern for many people.

It is a disease that must be managed carefully to avoid developing serious symptoms, and an American study found that heart disease may not be the only thing that the patient may be exposed to due to high cholesterol, as there is a warning sign in the eye that may lead to blindness if the patient does not receive the necessary treatment.

According to a report by the British newspaper "Express", there is good and bad cholesterol.

The good cholesterol is called high-density lipoprotein, and it absorbs cholesterol and returns it to the liver to be expelled from the body.

In contrast, bad cholesterol is called low-density lipoprotein.

This sticks to the walls of the blood vessels, creating a layer that increases the risk of heart disease and stroke.

And those with high levels of bad cholesterol should take prescription medications so as not to increase the risk of heart disease, and a new study found that if you have high cholesterol, you may be more likely to develop a serious eye condition known as glaucoma. It is an eye condition in which the optic nerve that connects the brain to the eye is damaged, and it usually occurs due to the accumulation of fluid in the front of the eye.

The study, published in JAMA Opthamology, states that the first sign of glaucoma is that your peripheral vision begins to be affected, and other more obvious signs include blurred vision, seeing rainbow-colored circles around bright lights, and occasionally glaucoma may cause symptoms other than Sarah, including severe eye pain, nausea and vomiting, besides, the patient may begin to feel pain around the eye, headache and eye redness, and the condition may lead to blindness if it is not treated quickly enough.

It is noteworthy that to prevent high cholesterol and the risks it causes, lifestyle modifications and regular exercise must be made, while adhering to proper nutrition, not smoking, with the need to follow up with the doctor in case of infection and adhere to the medical prescription to avoid complications.
