British singer John Miles, known worldwide for the 1976 hit Music and classic rock fans for his backing vocals with the Jimmy Page and the Alan Parsons Project, has died at the age of 72.
"We are devastated to announce the death of Mr. Music John Miles died in peace after a very short illness," his family announced on Facebook.
"He will live forever in our hearts and in the wonderful musical legacy he left behind", added those close to him.
“The UK has lost one of its most talented musicians,” manager Cliff Cooper said in a press release.
A regular collaborator of Tina Turner
John Miles signed with Decca Records in 1975, for which he released four notable albums:
Rebel

(1978) and
More MIles Per Hour
(1979).
He has also appeared on four Alan Parsons Project albums: T
ales Of Mystery And Imagination
(1976),

.
He also toured regularly with Tina Turner, for whom he sang and played guitar.
He appeared on
Jimmy Page's
solo album
Outrider
in 1988 and the subsequent world tour.
