[Explanation] Recently, the reporter came to Wuhan Caidian Shenhu Wetland Nature Reserve and walked along the embankment around the lake, where there are endless vegetation.

During the low water season, the sandbar beaches are exposed to the water, attracting flocks of birds to roost.

Occasionally, birds of prey show off their majestic appearance on this occasion of water and sky, arousing thousands of birds to fly together, which is quite spectacular.

When the Shenhu Lake was the lowest in 2014, there were less than 20,000 waterbirds and fewer than 30,000. By the time we did this synchronous survey of overwintering waterbirds in January this year, there were already 77,000. The rarer birds are all in Wuhan. Appeared.

[Explanation] Shenhu International Important Wetland is located in the southwestern part of Caidian District, Wuhan City, where the Yangtze River and Han River intersect, with a total area of 11.579.1 hectares. It is not only a rare and typical freshwater lake pan-swamp wetland in lakes at the same latitude on the earth, but also the Yangtze River. An important link in the wetland network in the middle and lower reaches.

With a complete ecosystem structure and unique functions, it is an important resting place and wintering area for rare and endangered waterbirds such as Oriental White Stork and Hooded Crane.

In 2009, the International Bird League listed the Shenhu Wetland as an internationally important bird area. In October 2013, the Shenhu Wetland was included in the list of internationally important wetlands.

[Explanation] As of this year, the Shenhu Wetland has completed the restoration of 1,400 hectares of degraded wetland, including the national first-class protected animals Eastern white stork, great flamingo, flamingo, curly feather pelican and other rare birds that have flown to Wuhan for the first time for the winter.

There are currently 345 species of birds observed in Wuhan this year. If the total number of species has exceeded 2019, this number is still relatively large.

Wuhan is actually a city built on wetlands, and there are many wetlands around us. We will take some major measures to protect these wetlands.

[Explanation] In order to ensure biodiversity, Hubei continues to carry out the protection and restoration of wetland nature reserves and wetland parks.

Wuhan City has initiated the construction of smart wetlands to create a forest and grass ecological smart perception system marked by real-time monitoring, rapid diagnosis, independent analysis, efficient decision-making, and precise management. After completion, it can realize full-coverage online monitoring of the city's wetland nature reserves.

It is called Smart Wetland Monitoring System. It is very powerful. It monitors the situation of birds in this area 24 hours a day, including monitoring its environment (condition). It is equivalent to biological monitoring and management monitoring. It is doing it 24 hours a day.

[Explanation] In recent years, wetland parks and conservation areas such as Shenhu, Wuhu, Zhangduhu, Fuhe and Tianxingzhou in Wuhan City, Hubei Province have vigorously implemented the restoration of lakes and demolished the ridges of the original fish ponds and lotus ponds. Instead, plant emergent plants and floating plants to create ecological islands to meet the needs of different animals.

Next year, the Conference of the Parties to the "Wetland Convention" will be held in Wuhan. Wuhan City has actually done a lot of work around the international wetland city. One is our wetland protection and wetland restoration.

My feeling is that within the entire protected area, just like our five wetland protection areas above the municipal level in Wuhan, it first took the measures of returning farmland to lake and returning to the lake.

It is the protection of biodiversity that has brought a very, very large positive impact.
