Three people were taken into custody during the rave party which brought together up to 2,000 people overnight from Saturday to Sunday in Rennes and ended Sunday evening with less than 50 people on site, announced the prefecture from Brittany.

“During the night from Saturday to Sunday, around 11 pm, 600 to 700 people moved into a disused hangar in an industrial zone in the town of Rennes.

At the height of the night, they were estimated between 1,500 and 2,000 ”, indicates the prefecture in a press release.

An “irresponsible” gathering for the prefecture

"At the request of the public prosecutor, around a hundred checks of people and around 150 checks of vehicles were carried out on the outskirts of the site by the police and the gendarmerie", indicates a new prefectural press release on Saturday evening.

“They made it possible to carry out three arrests, one for drunkenness and contempt, the other two for drug trafficking, with the persons concerned being placed in police custody.

Twenty-five fixed tort fines have also been drawn up, ”the statement added.

Qualifying the gathering "irresponsible", "in a context of strong resumption of the epidemic of covid-19", the prefecture evokes "a very high risk of dissemination of covid-19".

Participants invited to isolate themselves

The firefighters intervened ten times for non-serious support, further specifies the prefecture, while six people were evacuated to the Rennes University Hospital.

An information system and screening points have also been installed on the site.

The Prefect also invites participants "to consider themselves as risky contact cases, to isolate themselves at home immediately and to get tested quickly".

The rave party took place in parallel with the last evening of the 43rd Trans Musicales festival in Rennes.

Placed under high health surveillance, this flagship event of local and national cultural life brought together 56,000 people in five days, according to the organizers.

According to the Regional Health Agency (ARS), the incidence rate of the covid-19 epidemic was 249.9 cases per 100,000 inhabitants on December 3 in Brittany and 296 in Ille-et-Vilaine.

This rate stood at 388.3 in France on December 1, according to Public Health France.
