This year, Rongcheng City, Shandong Province has a cultured area of 150,000 mu of kelp, and the output of kelp can reach more than 400,000 tons. The total annual output of kelp accounts for 85% of the province and more than 30% of the country.
The kelp industry has become a leading industry for local fishermen to increase their incomes.
Rongcheng kelp is planted in winter every year and harvested after April of the following year.
The local clean ocean pastures and good low-carbon farming technology have attracted the attention of the United Nations.
