On December 5, local time, Indonesia’s National Disaster Relief Agency notified that as of the morning of that day, the eruption of Mount Semeru in East Java Province had caused 13 deaths and 7 missing.

In addition to the deaths and missing persons, 57 villagers were admitted to the hospital for burn injuries, 16 of whom were seriously injured.

  At about 15:00 on December 4, local time, the Semeru volcano in East Java province erupted violently during heavy rain, forming a volcanic ash rain covering several nearby villages, and the lava erupted from the volcano flowed into the nearby river along the hillside.
