Mr. Syukuro Manabe of Princeton University, USA, who was selected for this year's Nobel Prize in Physics, will be awarded a Nobel Prize medal in the United States on the morning of the 7th of Japan time.

Mr. Syukuro Manabe is from Ehime prefecture. Together with German and Italian researchers, he was selected as the recipient of this year's Nobel Prize in Physics.



Mr. Manabe acquired American nationality and is still continuing his research as a visiting researcher at Princeton University, and due to the influence of the new Corona, the Nobel Prize medal will be awarded in the country where each person lives. Mr. Manabe, together with researchers who have won the Chemistry Award and the Economics Award, will receive medals at a ceremony held in Washington, the capital of the United States, on the morning of the 7th of Japan time.



The ceremony will be attended by officials from the Swedish Embassy in the United States, and a banquet will be held at the Embassy.



The award ceremony will be held in Sweden on December 11th, Japan time, but Mr. Manabe and others will not attend.



This is the 28th Japanese person to receive the Nobel Prize, including those who have acquired American nationality, and the 12th person to receive the Nobel Prize in Physics, following Takaaki Kajita six years ago.
