Dating back to the 11th century... a rare gold earring was found in Denmark

Today, Sunday, the Danish National Museum announced that a rare gold earring, dating back to the eleventh century, was found, presumably from the Middle East.

This gold earring was found by Franz Vogel Westergaard, using a metal detector, in a field in West Jutland.

This is the first discovery of something like this in Scandinavia, the Copenhagen Museum said in a statement.

The earring will be displayed in the museum, starting tomorrow, Monday.

"It's completely unique to us," said Peter Bentz, an expert at the museum. "We know 10 to 12 other specimens, all over the world, and we haven't found one like this in Scandinavia."
