While our European neighbors are already tightening the screws, a new health defense council is scheduled for tomorrow in Paris. The government must decide to put in place new restrictive measures to fight the fifth wave of Covid-19. The infectious disease specialist Benjamin Davido advocates a return to telework and the health bubble.

Near-containment for unvaccinated people in Germany, schools closed a week before the Christmas holidays in Belgium ... The measures taken by our European neighbors raise fears of the worst for France, hit by the fifth wave of the Covid- 19.

"We will do as always with pragmatism and proportion" said Emmanuel Macron on Friday from Dubai.

Benjamin Davido, infectious disease specialist at Garches hospital thinks that there will be "no confinement or curfew" but he does not rule out new, less extreme measures to slow down the mixing of populations.

A return to teleworking?

For him, "in addition to the vaccination campaign which must be accelerated", it will very "probably be necessary to increase and strongly encourage teleworking".

A step backwards which would imply "that we modify the gauges, that we make an effort on what we called the sanitary bubble."

For the record, this bubble consists of "avoiding meeting more than six, or up to ten when you are vaccinated".

The infectious disease specialist is certain: "I think these are measures that can be understood, everyone can make an effort."

In his opinion, "these principles will make it possible to limit the risk of contamination".

No question either of imitating Belgium and closing schools before the Christmas holidays: Benjamin Davido is not in favor.

It is better, he says, "to take longer-term measures which will hold during and after the holiday season, at least until next March".
