Recalling his father's book writing experience in his later years, Academician Zhong Nanshan sighed with emotion: "I remember asking him not to work at that time. Diplopia had been severe, but then he was still writing a book on differential diagnosis of pediatrics every day. He wrote more than 400,000 words and used it for four years. When the first edition of this book was published, he was awarded RMB 1,800. I bought his own book for 1,000 yuan and gave it to his students, and 800 yuan for the doctor who copied it for him. I learned a lot from my father."
As the son of Zhong Shifan, the second dean of Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital, Zhong Nanshan has a lot of affection for provincial doctors.
