It's quite simple, all the signals are red.

Not because it's Christmas, but because the Covid-19 is back.

From week 45 (from November 8 to 14) to week 47 (from 22 to 28), the number of positive cases counted by Public Health France (SPF) more than tripled, from 12,577 to 38,023!

The positivity rate is also on the rise, from 3.1 to 5.2%.

And the crude incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants has, over the same period also tripled, from 102 to 310, exceeding the peak of last summer.

The donkey hat returning to Paris, with a rate of 446!

On the hospital side, over the same period, we went from 487 to 750 new critical care admissions while the number of hospital deaths rose from 56 to 70. To explain this sharp increase, SPF argues that "the current context the increase in social contacts, the decrease in the application of barrier gestures, the still incomplete vaccination coverage, especially in children and the elderly, and the attrition of immunity over time promotes intensification of viral circulation.

"

Trompe-l'œil class closures

Moreover, and this is where it gets stuck, vaccination coverage is hardly improving. It was for "all ages at at least 1 dose of 76.5% (vs. 76.3% in W46) and 74.2% (vs. 73.8% in W46) for the complete regimen," specifies SPF . Conclusion: "the regional epidemiological situation is likely to worsen further in the coming weeks". But where is the good news?

They are to be found on the side of class closures.

Indeed, since the change in protocol on November 29 and the end of the closure from the 1st case of Covid-19, we have gone from 357 classes closed in Paris on Thursday November 25 to only 45 on Thursday December 2.

Obviously, this is good news in trompe-l'oeil since from November 18 to December 3, the number of students who tested positive was multiplied by almost 4, from 349 to 1,222.

But hey, given the situation, we will have to be content.

Our file on the coronavirus

To prevent a health disaster at Christmas, SPF maintains that "the vaccination of all eligible persons remains essential and must be associated with a high level of adherence to other preventive measures, in particular compliance with barrier measures, the limitation of contacts to risk ”.

We're going to avoid kissing under the mistletoe, then.
