The Covid-19 pandemic has changed the habits of French people in terms of business travel.

They are now abandoning public transport in favor of their car, according to the 2021 “Mobility & Business Barometer” carried out by Ifop, reports

BFMTV

.

Between 2017 and 2019, the number of people using their car for commuting and business trips fell to 72%.

But this figure started to rise again in 2020 and 2021. This year, 76% of respondents said they took their car for this type of trip.

Fewer drivers in Ile-de-France

"The health crisis of 2020 has led many French people to use their car again," explains the study.

This phenomenon particularly affects agglomerations of less than 100,000 inhabitants with 85% of people using their car.

In large cities, alternative mobility solutions are more favored.

Thus, in the Paris region, only 49% of those questioned use their car for commuting and business trips.

In addition, 42% of Ile-de-France residents walk and 51% still use public transport today.
