How far is China from the movie powerhouse?

On December 2, Xie Fei, the fourth-generation director of China, said in an interview with a reporter from China News Agency that China is not yet a film powerhouse, and there is still a long way to go in the short term.

　　China has long been a big movie country, and I also agree that the reason is the large number.

So we are right now at the box office of 1.4 billion people in the world.

Because you have 1.4 billion people and your family is North America with 300 million (population), so don't be too proud.

You originally have that much population.

But now it is not a big country but a powerful country.

A strong country means that not only people in your country love to watch your movies, but people in the world love to watch them. We are far from achieving this.

This is not easy, and there is still a long way to go in the short term.

　　[Explanation] In recent years, a group of young directors have emerged from the fierce competition in the market and have quickly grown into the backbone of Chinese films.

How do young directors make high-quality movies that both audiences love and can go abroad?

As the fourth generation of directors in China, Xie Fei encourages young directors to stick to themselves in the new era, give full play to the advantages of the times, and strive to produce more high-quality films that can be retained.

　　Any era has its own characteristics, its advantages and disadvantages.

So don't just complain about its shortcomings, but think of ways to make use of its advantages.

The planned economy of our time did not pay attention to all aspects.

Now it's money, the top box office, it's all for money.

How do you overcome this shortcoming and stick to yourself?

Just think of your own way.

And there will be no 7th, 8th, and 9th generations in the future, just the younger generation.

The younger generation wants to make films that can survive, and that requires their own efforts.

　　Boutique, what is a boutique?

Is it a boutique from the perspective of literature, art and culture, or from a commercial (perspective)?

Some businesses sell money, but in fact they are rotten products, just vulgar things.

　　[Explanation] In order to share with students the aesthetics and artistic qualities that filmmakers should possess, the "Xie Fei and Fu Jingsheng Film and Art Retrospective" directed by Xie Fei as the curator recently opened at the Beijing Film Academy's Four Space Art Museum.

The event used the form of art exhibition to review films such as "Xiang Girl Xiaoxiao", "Black Steed" and "Yixi Zhuoma" filmed jointly by Xie Fei and Fu Jingsheng.

　　I think there is still some innovation. We regard these three films as a work of plastic art, so during this period, we have put these three films in the auditorium and two of them have been released in professional cinemas.

Because we are now divided into two old campuses of Beijing Film, we will finish the lecture here tomorrow (Fu Jingsheng), and we will go there next week.

It is three parts, showing movies, painting exhibitions and lectures.
