Elton John and Ed Sheeran want to wish you a Merry Christmas.

The two pop singers have therefore released a duet, called

Merry Christmas

, available this Friday on all streaming platforms.

The track was co-written by the two stars, their very first four-handed song, even though they've known each other for over 10 years.

The two performers appear to be having a blast in the clip accompanying the release, as they recreate some scenes from UK music's most iconic Christmas clips like

Wham's

Last Christmas

,

Walking in the Air

, The Snowman, or

Stay another Day

from East 17.

"Feel free to stream the song and watch the video too, we had so much fun shooting it," Ed Sheeran confirmed on Instagram.

The icing on the cake: all profits from this new single will be donated to the two celebrity associations, the Ed Sheeran Suffolk Music Foundation and the Elton John Aids Foundation.

“Last Christmas I got a call from my friend Elton John and he said we should do a Christmas song, and I said, 'Yeah, maybe in 2022', but I actually wrote the chorus that day and here we are, ”Ed Sheeran revealed of the track's genesis.

Will the duo of Elton John and Ed Sheeran be popular enough to top the charts during the competitive holiday season in England?

According to the BBC, the duo is already the favorite of bookmakers, even ahead of Adele, George Ezra, Abba, or LadBaby.
