They say they are "tired of the contempt and denial of the government".

Two unions on Friday called on the coordinating doctors of retirement homes to refuse to administer the 3rd dose of anti-Covid vaccine to the employees of these establishments in order to put pressure on the government to which they are demanding a salary increase.

"The coordinating doctors will no longer vaccinate the employees of nursing homes," said the SMCG-CSMF and SNGIE unions in a statement, which defend the interests of some 2,500 practitioners concerned.

"We demand the same as what the doctors in public hospitals got"

The doctors of nursing homes have benefited neither from the salary increases granted from 2020 to their colleagues in hospitals, nor from those granted to non-medical caregivers according to the “Ségur de la santé”, explained Renaud Marin La Meslée, president of the SNGIE.

"We are demanding the same thing as what doctors obtained from public hospitals," he added, or, according to his calculations, 513 euros per month for a full-time person.

"As long as this injustice is not repaired, the coordinating doctors will stick strictly to their 14 missions set by the code of social action and families", which do not include the vaccination of staff, said the two unions.

A large number of professionals have in any case already received their third dose and the others will therefore now have to try to find a vaccination niche like everyone else with their attending physician or on Doctolib, argued Renaud Marin La Meslée.

"We are not irresponsible, we do not put anybody at risk by possibly delaying the vaccination booster for employees by a few weeks," he said.
