Regarding the crisis raised by the statements of the Lebanese Minister of Information, George Kordahi, the Lebanese president said - in an interview with Al Jazeera on the “Special Meeting” program (11/29/2021) - that he did not ask the minister to resign, stressing that Qardahi will act on the basis of what is best for Lebanon, according to his expression.

President Aoun told Al Jazeera that when a Saudi journalist insulted him on air, no action was taken against him.

The Lebanese president indicated that he reviewed the Lebanese-Gulf crisis with the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, during his current visit to Doha, in addition to the bilateral relations between the two countries.

Regarding the ongoing investigation into the Beirut port bombing incident, President Aoun said that he did not agree with Hezbollah regarding the dismissal of the judicial investigator in the case, Tariq Al-Bitar, but on the other hand indicated that the party is committed to Resolution 1701, and has not issued any defect since 2017.

He also told Al Jazeera that the Banque du Liban is subject to a criminal investigation, and the bank's governor is responsible for the lost money, considering that there are several accumulations that have contributed to the aggravation of the economic crisis in Lebanon.

The Lebanese president confirmed that the parliamentary elections will be held on time, and that all measures are being taken to organize them.

Aoun added that he will leave Baabda Palace at the end of his term, but will remain if Parliament decides to stay.

On another issue, the Lebanese president said, "I will not sign the decree amending the maritime borders as long as we are in the negotiation stage."
