Theater and film actress Nina Urgant died in St. Petersburg at the age of 92.

The message about the death of the artist came from the press service of the Alexandrinsky Theater.

Condolences in connection with the death of the actress were expressed by the Minister of Culture of Russia Olga Lyubimova.

According to the head of the department, the artist's death was a huge loss for everyone.

“Unique talent, dedication to her chosen work and charm allowed Nina Nikolaevna to find her own unique path in art.

Her stage works are interesting, distinctive and recognizable, and her films have enriched the golden fund of Russian cinema, ”said Lyubimova.

The Minister stressed that the good memory of Nina Urgant will remain in the professional community, in the hearts of people who know and love her work.

The first vice-president of the Guild of Russian Cinema Actors, theater and film actor Boris Tokarev, in an interview with RT, also commented on the message about the death of the actress.

Together they starred in Igor Talankin's drama "Entry".

“Nina stood out for some very subtle and emotional game.

It is very difficult to play a mother, a woman who was abandoned by her husband, a woman who has met all sorts of people in this life, ”Tokarev emphasized.

He added that the actress very steadfastly overcame the difficult moments of life and at the same time remained fragile, there was a lot of warmth in her.

“She knew how to be silent, she knew how to look.

This is incredibly important for cinema ... I think the memory of her ... will always be with people, ”said the artist.

People's Artist of the RSFSR Svetlana Nemolyaeva, in turn, noted the theatrical talent of Nina Urgant.

Nina Urgant was born on September 4, 1929 in the Leningrad Region in the family of an officer.

Due to the work of her father, the family of the future artist often moved.

While still a schoolgirl, Urgant showed interest in art.

She sang war songs with her own guitar accompaniment. 

Nina Urgant graduated from the Leningrad Theater Institute and joined the troupe of the Volkov Yaroslavl Academic Theater, and later moved to the Leningrad Lenin Komsomol Theater. There, the artist served until 1962 and performed at least ten roles. She got lyrical heroines. Urgant performed in the performances "Humiliated and Insulted", "Good Hour", "Virgin Soil Upturned" and others. Since 1962, she was one of the leading actresses of the troupe of the Leningrad State Academic Drama Theater named after A.S. Pushkin (Alexandrinsky Theater), where she participated in many classical and modern performances. 

Since the mid-1950s, Nina Urgant has acted in films.

She made a name for herself thanks to a supporting role in the popular film Tiger Tamer.

Soon, the artist also appeared in the projects "Twelfth Night", "The street is full of surprises", "Overcoat", "Beware, grandma!" 

For the first time, Urgant played the main role in Igor Talankin's drama "Entry" in 1963.

The film was presented in the main competition of the Venice Film Festival and received the Special Jury Prize.

It was this picture that the actress considered one of the main ones in her career.

Also among the most famous paintings with the participation of Nina Urgant - "Belorussky Station", "Prize", "Magic Power".

Her most recent on-screen work was a central role in the action-adventure film Asiatic.

Nina Urgant was married three times.

Her son Andrei Urgant also became an actor, and her grandson Ivan became a famous TV presenter.

For her services in the field of theatrical art, Nina Urgant was awarded the Golden Mask Prize.

Also, the actress is the owner of the Orders of Honor and "For Services to the Fatherland" IV degree, the title of People's Artist of the RSFSR. 

Shortly before the death of Nina Urgant, it became known that the actress was awarded the honorary award "Theater Goer Star" in the category "Stage Legend".
