Faced with the Covid-19 figures which are increasing dramatically in the department, the prefecture of Haute-Savoie has decided to strengthen measures to curb the spread of the virus.

She decided on Tuesday, by prefectural decree, to impose the wearing of masks outdoors in towns with a high population density, reports France 3 Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.

Thus 50 towns and ski resorts in Haute-Savoie are concerned.

The mask is now compulsory from 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. in Annecy, Thonon-les-Bains, La Clusaz or even Annemasse.

The obligation applies to people aged 11 and over and will remain in effect until January 4.

Areas to be defined

The inhabitants will therefore have to wear a mask "in areas where the high traffic in public space does not allow to respect the barrier gestures and the rules of physical distancing", specifies the prefecture.

A municipal decree will define the affected areas.

If no order is taken, the obligation will extend to the entire municipality.

This Tuesday, in Haute-Savoie, the incidence rate was 382 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

That is an increase of almost 350% in two weeks.
