• All indicators of viral circulation have been on the rise for several weeks in the Alpes-Maritimes.

  • Right in the fifth wave, the objective is to intensify the vaccination campaign to encourage the population to take the third dose and "boost their immunity", as Véronique Borré, in charge of vaccine logistics for the Nice metropolis, puts it.

  • In Nice, the Palais des Expositions has once again become a vaccinodrome to perform 6,000 injections per day.

The numbers keep increasing.

While at the end of October, the incidence rate stood at 62 positive Covid-19 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, by mid-November, it had more than doubled and rose to 132 infected people.

Fifteen days later, it almost tripled and reached, this Thursday, 382 in the Alpes-Maritimes, which is above the national average, at 311, and which greatly exceeds the alert threshold set at 50.

Figures that worry.

In its last weekly report, the regional health agency (ARS) Paca affirms: “The indicators of viral circulation are deteriorating significantly […].

All are on the rise at regional and departmental level and for all age groups ”.

If hospital pressure remains at 33%, critical care admissions have doubled in one week, from 60 to 121 Covid-19 patients.

Fewer hospitalizations for the same number of cases

“We are in a real new wave, confirms Eric Denis, infectious disease specialist at Antibes hospital, near Nice.

There, we react a little too late, it's gone and it will stop as always.

"He adds:" The sectors of the hospital are full but compared to other periods with the same number of cases, the number of hospitalizations is lower.

Which shows that the vaccine is effective.

We also see that the department is one of the good students at this level and it will surely be our chance to avoid the worst.

I can't imagine what it would have been like without vaccination.

"

Moreover, since Wednesday, the Palais des Expositions has once again become "a vaccine park".

“When we got the government announcements, we sent a text message to all metropolitan eligible for a third dose and Saturday night, all slots were taken.

There is a real desire to be vaccinated in the region, ”says Véronique Borré, head of the health, environmental and risk management agency which manages vaccine logistics for the Nice Côte d'Azur metropolis.

Objective: boost vaccination for the Nice metropolis

This site will allow "6,000 injections per day" thanks to "40 boxes and 250 staff", specifies the person in charge.

“The idea is to be able to simplify and intensify this vaccination campaign in optimal sanitary conditions, such as ensuring barrier gestures and therefore having space, hence the requisition of the Exhibition Center.

"

To boost vaccination, the metropolis is first targeting those over 65, who were vaccinated first, to take their third dose and "ensure their immunity to the coronavirus".

“We made an appointment for them and we are sending it to them.

Even those who show up without an appointment are taken care of, ”says Véronique Borré.

She recalls: “The Nice metropolis includes 50% of the population of the department.

Our strength from the start, and what makes us nine points above the national average in terms of vaccination coverage, is that we have vaccine antennas everywhere.

In Saint-Laurent-du-Var, Beaulieu, Saint-Étienne-de-Tinée, La Trinité, not to mention our mobile teams who go to municipal halls such as Saint-Martin-Vésubie.
