The TF1 group will offer its viewers to follow the adventure of the French women's handball team at the next World Cup, which begins this weekend.

The first poster, France-Slovenia, will be broadcast on Sunday on TMC, and the final could be on the first channel if the Blues succeed.

Women's handball in the spotlight on the TF1 group.

The TMC channel (channel 10) will broadcast the world championship with the France team from this weekend, with the essential Grégoire Margotton and the former captain of the Bleues Nodjialem Myaro, world champion in 2003 and president of the National Women's Handball League.

This duo had already commented together on the Euros 2018 and 2020 on the TF1 group's antennas.

Two events which had also gone very well in terms of audiences.

"In 2018 and 2020, we achieved exceptional (audience) scores"

Audiences which therefore encouraged TF1 to continue broadcasting the women's hand, especially since the Blue remain on an Olympic title won in Tokyo last August.

"In 2018 and 2020, we made exceptional scores", rejoices Julien Millereux, the group's sports director, at the microphone of Europe 1. "The French women have the opportunity to achieve the double (with the Olympics, editor's note We follow them, we have long-term contracts for the Euros and the world championships respectively until 2024 and 2025 ", he explains.

Julien Millereux also highlights the deadline for the Paris Games in 2024, which encourages the TF1 group "to continue to build around this sport which carries values ​​close to those of the group, which remains very popular and powerful in audiences" .

The final on TF1 if the France team accesses it

If the quarterfinals and the semi-finals will be broadcast on TMC, the final will be broadcast on TF1 if the Blues succeed.

Sporting events which are increasingly important for TF1, at a time when television consumption is more fragmented.

"It's part of TF1's DNA," says the group's sports director.

"It's important to broadcast these types of events that are unifying and that people watch together because it is a vector of social bond. Today, there are few events that should be watched live rather than 'on demand, and who look at each other together, "says Julien Millereux.

The first match for Les Bleues will be shown on France-Slovenia, Sunday at 5:50 p.m., on TMC.
