On December 2, Hainan Free Trade Port Haikou Meilan International Airport's second phase expansion project was officially put into operation, welcoming the first batch of passengers.
It is understood that the T2 terminal of Haikou Meilan International Airport has an area of about 300,000 square meters, 5 check-in islands, 110 check-in counters, 41 self-service check-in machines and 10 self-service baggage check-in equipment.
The security check area is equipped with 15 sets of pre-security check gates and 46 security check channels, which are also equipped with smart travel check channels that integrate facial recognition, millimeter wave security gates, and smart basket return systems.
The overall commercial area of the T2 terminal is about 23,000 square meters, of which the outlying island’s duty-free shopping area is nearly 10,000 square meters.
