  On the same day, Carrie Lam attended the first Construction Industry Council Outstanding Contractor Award 2021 awards ceremony at Government House, and made the above remarks at the ceremony.

  Carrie Lam mentioned that in October this year, she issued the 2021 policy address. The overall response of the report was positive, especially in the construction industry.

People in the construction industry see the future of the industry from this policy address. They not only have plans to build houses, but also continue to promote land development, such as reclaiming the artificial island of Kau Yi Chau, construction of the northern metropolis, and redevelopment of industries.

In addition, the SAR government stated in the "Hong Kong Climate Action Blueprint 2050" that it is believed that 240 billion Hong Kong dollars will be invested in infrastructure projects in the next few decades, all of which require the support of the construction industry.

  Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor said that although the main future opportunities for the Hong Kong construction industry are still limited to Hong Kong, Hong Kong is a core city in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The future in the Greater Bay Area will provide many opportunities for the Hong Kong construction industry.

Thanks to the efforts of the Development Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, some breakthroughs have been made so far that allows the Hong Kong construction industry to explore business in the Mainland cities of the Greater Bay Area through the filing method.

  In addition, she also mentioned that the Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region has now resumed rationality and pragmatism, and most of the phenomena such as "rabbits" have disappeared. She urged people in the construction industry to actively participate in the voting in the election of the seventh legislative council and vote for the improvement of Hong Kong’s electoral system. A vote of confidence is also a vote of confidence in the future of Hong Kong.
