South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has called for the lifting of travel restrictions imposed on southern Africa since the detection of the Omicron variant.

A message sent while traveling in Nigeria, which announced on Wednesday that it had detected three first cases of the Omicron variant in travelers from South Africa last week.

Ghana, its West African neighbor, has also announced that it has detected its first cases of the Omicron variant in travelers from Nigeria and South Africa.

In The Gambia, a few days before the presidential election, the victims of the dictatorship of Yahya Jammeh, in exile in Equatorial Guinea, wish to see him answer for his acts in court.
