After the tragedy that occurred last Wednesday in the North Sea, which claimed the lives of 27 migrants, the question of their burial would eventually arise.
The Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, replied on Tuesday, on Twitter.
These are associations that usually organize funerals for migrants who are killed trying to reach Great Britain by crossing the Strait of Pas-de-Calais.
The load would have been too heavy this time.
"The State, at the request of the President of the Republic, will take charge of the burial of the victims of the shipwreck of November 24," tweeted Gerald Darmanin, specifying that he was going to work "with the municipalities that agree to welcome the deceased ”.
However, contacted by AFP, the entourage of the Minister of the Interior explained that any repatriation of bodies at the request of the families would not be supported by France, but by the countries of origin.
