In view of the sharp rise in the number of corona infections, significantly more Germans are taking security measures again, according to a survey.

In a survey published on Tuesday by the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR), 58 percent of people said that they had reduced personal contact with friends and relatives.

Two weeks earlier, only 45 percent said that.

In the same period, the proportion of people who say they leave their home less often rose from 36 to 50 percent.

At the same time, the demand for corona tests also increased: 63 percent had themselves tested for the virus in the past 14 days - two weeks ago it was only 48 percent.

In this context, more and more people are preparing for a possible quarantine: The proportion of those surveyed who stock up on larger food supplies grew from 11 to 16 percent.

The BfR Corona Monitor is a representative survey of the German-speaking population aged 14 and over.

For the current survey, Kantar GmbH interviewed 1007 people by telephone on November 23rd and 24th.

The nationwide seven-day incidence fell slightly for the first time in more than three weeks compared to the previous day.

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the value of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week on Tuesday morning as 452.2.

A high of 452.4 had been reached on Monday.

A week ago the value was 399.8 (previous month: 153.7).

The health authorities in Germany reported 45,753 new corona infections to the RKI within one day.

This is evident from the numbers that reflect the status of the RKI dashboard at 03.35 a.m.

Exactly one week ago there were 45,326 infections.

According to the new information, 388 deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours.

A week ago there were 309 deaths.

The RKI has counted 5,836,813 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic.

The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections are not recognized.

The number of corona patients admitted to clinics per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days was given by the RKI on Monday as 5.52 (Friday: 5.97).

The value is not reported on the weekend.

It plays an essential role in assessing what is happening in the infection.

If limit values 3, 6 and 9 are exceeded in the federal states, stricter measures to combat the pandemic can be imposed there.

The RKI stated the number of those recovered on Tuesday at 4,893,300.

The number of people who died with or with a proven infection with Sars-CoV-2 rose to 101,344.
