At the event site, participating experts and scholars shared the key and difficult aspects of HIV prevention and control among college students, analyzed the status quo of youth AIDS prevention, discussed key strategies for youth AIDS prevention, and jointly promoted the healthy growth of youth.

  Liu Tongtong, chairman of the Health Education and Mass Communication Committee of the China Association for the Prevention and Treatment of STDs and AIDS, shared a set of survey data: Over 90% of the students surveyed clearly understand the three transmission routes of HIV, namely sexual transmission, blood transmission and mother-to-child transmission. Twenty percent of students believe that sharing toilets, bathing, and swimming with HIV-infected people will be infected with HIV.

In addition, 43.8% of the students surveyed are most willing to take preventive measures to avoid contact with HIV-infected people.

"This reminds us that young people have more and more knowledge about AIDS prevention, but the depth is far from enough. It is still necessary to continue to popularize disease knowledge and eliminate unscientific prejudice and discrimination." Liu Tongtong said.

The leader of the AIDS clinical expert working group of the National Health Commission, Beijing Ditan Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University Infection Zhang Fujie, director of the Center for Diagnosis, Treatment and Research of Sexual Diseases, said: “Youth is the future of social development. It is the responsibility of multiple parties to strengthen the popularization of HIV prevention and control knowledge. Only when all parties work together to comprehensively prevent and control and educate young people through professional knowledge can we better stop the virus. Spread.” Ma Yinghua, deputy director of the Peking University Institute of Child and Adolescent Health, deputy head of the National Expert Group on AIDS Education in Schools, and professor at the Peking University School of Public Health, said: “Many students have incomplete knowledge about AIDS prevention. Universities and society need to provide assistance to young people in various aspects such as personal education and testing services."

  Jin Fangqian, global vice president and general manager of Gilead Sciences, said that he will assist relevant departments to provide more in-depth and diversified AIDS education and comprehensive interventions for young students.

  According to reports, Gilead Sciences recently signed a memorandum of cooperation with the China Association for the Prevention and Control of HIV/AIDS in the Red Ribbon Youth Campus "New Era School AIDS Prevention Education and Comprehensive Intervention Pilot Project" to help solve key and difficult issues in HIV prevention and control for young people.

  In the next step, the 2021 youth AIDS prevention public welfare action will enter universities in 8 key cities across the country, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Hangzhou, to carry out HIV popular science education activities and strengthen HIV prevention education for youth groups.
