The seven-day incidence has risen again and has peaked.

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) stated the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week on Monday morning as 452.4.

For comparison: the previous day the value was 446.7, a week ago it was 386.5 (previous month: 64.3).

The health authorities in Germany reported 29,364 new corona infections to the RKI within one day.

This is evident from the numbers that reflect the status of the RKI dashboard at 3:34 a.m.

Exactly one week ago there were 30,643 infections.

According to the new information, 73 deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours.

A week ago there were 62 deaths.

The RKI has counted 5,791,060 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic.

The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections are not recognized.

Saxony reported the highest incidence with 1285, followed by Thuringia (895) and Saxony-Anhalt (698).

Schleswig-Holstein (151.3), Lower Saxony (217) and Bremen (219) recorded the lowest values.

31 of the 401 rural districts and independent cities in Germany have a seven-day incidence of 1000, the LK Erzgebirgskreis has a value of 2073.4.

The number of corona patients admitted to clinics per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days was given by the RKI on Friday as 5.97 (Thursday: 5.79).

The value is not reported on the weekend.

It plays an essential role in assessing what is happening in the infection.

If limit values 3, 6 and 9 are exceeded in the federal states, stricter measures to combat the pandemic can be imposed there.

The RKI stated the number of those who had recovered on Monday at 4,852,800.

The number of people who died with or with a proven infection with Sars-CoV-2 rose to 100,956.

Undertakers in Saxony could soon face overload

Meanwhile, the Saxon undertakers are worried about the future in view of the dramatic corona infection figures. "At the moment the situation is still relaxed and not at all comparable to the situation last year," said Tobias Wenzel, guild master of the Undertaker Guild of Saxony, of the German press agency. Nevertheless, there could be overloads due to the dynamic development. “When a wave of infections begins, it ends up in the intensive care unit 14 days later. After another two weeks we will feel it. "

According to Wenzel, there is an increasing number of deaths every November and thus more cremations than usual. Now, however, more corona deaths would be added. The crematoria are therefore busy. The situation is problematic in two respects in particular: On the one hand, the registry offices are very slow to issue the required documents due to a lack of staff. “There are capacities in the crematoria. But we cannot act because the funeral certificates are not available, ”said Wenzel. As a result, the cold stores would fill up more and more.

The second problem concerns the staff of the crematoriums and funeral directors themselves. As more and more school children are being quarantined, parents have to stay at home because there is no emergency care for children of undertakers.

“That's why a lot of staff is now absent,” said Wenzel.

At the end of 2020, the capacities of the ten crematoria in Saxony were so exhausted that the dead had to be brought to other federal states for cremation.

The pictures of it made the whole drama of the pandemic in Saxony clear.

"I would not have thought it possible that the number of infections a year later would be much higher," said Wenzel.
