The bereaved family of a male public prosecutor at the Hiroshima District Public Prosecutor's Office who committed suicide two years ago applied for certification as a "public affairs disaster", saying that "suicide was caused by long working hours and strong reprimands from his boss."

Yusuke Hashizume, a former colleague of the deceased prosecutor and an agent for the bereaved family, held a press conference in Hiroshima City on the 29th.

A male prosecutor (29 at the time) who was working at the Hiroshima District Public Prosecutor's Office left a memo in December two years ago saying, "I'm sorry for the prosecutor's suicide." I committed suicide in.

At the meeting, Hashizume said, "Overtime work has exceeded 80 hours on average in the last 6 months, and I have been strongly reprimanded by my boss." I made it clear that I did.

About a week before his death, the male prosecutor had been sending messages to his acquaintances on SNS, saying that he had been strongly reprimanded by his boss and that he felt uneasy about his work.

Hashizume said, "There are multiple similar cases in the prosecution nationwide," and asked the prosecution for explanation and publication.

The bereaved family announced a comment saying, "I sincerely hope that the environment will be improved so that the same sad event will not occur again."

The prosecution reported to the bereaved family the results of an internal investigation in January last year saying, "I don't know the cause of the death."
