A huge asteroid is approaching Earth this evening

The US space agency, NASA, announced that an asteroid with a diameter of 131 meters will pass from the orbital path of the Earth, today, Monday, and “Russia Today” said that the asteroid will pass through the Earth’s orbital path between 00:30 and 01:00 GMT, at a speed of up to 8.8 km/sec.

The asteroid is known as 1994 WR12, and until 2016, the asteroid was included in the list of risks to impact on Earth by NASA's Jet Propulsion Center, but after several research it was removed from the list of risks.

The asteroid is expected to approach Earth at a distance of 3.8 million miles, or approximately 16 times the distance to Earth from the Moon.

NASA scientists estimate that there is a possibility of one in every 9090 that the asteroid will hit the Earth before the year 2109. In the event that 1994 WR12 collides with the Earth, the impact will produce an energy equivalent to 77 megatons of TNT.
