Recently, a video of Jiang Shengfa, a rural teacher in Yunnan, writing on a blackboard with a 10 cm stump tied with chalk and using clothes as a blackboard eraser has aroused heated discussion.

From the beginning of the monthly substitute tuition fee of 165 yuan to the current 1,500 yuan, Jiang Shengfa has always been a substitute teacher for 18 years of teaching. In recent years, he has also thought about becoming a regular teacher. He has already missed the age limit under the age of 10 years.

The rise of the Internet has broken the barriers to fame in the traditional society, giving ordinary people the opportunity to become the focus of public attention.

He became a substitute teacher at the age of 30. Jiang Shengfa has used 18 years of hard work and perseverance to ignite the lamp of hope for the children in the southwestern border mountain village.

As economic factors continue to be embedded in daily life, rural teachers also long for "work is more valuable and workers are more dignified", and they also look forward to "more security in life and more warmth in the soul".

As an institutional arrangement, the "must-be-examined" has its legitimacy and rationality. However, on the basis of ensuring the fairness of the starting point and procedural justice, some disadvantaged groups and special circumstances should be given appropriate policies. It will not damage the seriousness and authority of the rules.

Jiang Shengfa, who longs to be able to turn to the right one day, deserves to be "treated tenderly" by this world; as a lamp lighter, he himself needs to be illuminated and warmed.

Education carries the hopes of countless students and parents for a better life. The life dreams of farmers’ children are illuminated by candlelight. More than 2.9 million rural teachers are “lighters”, allowing rural students to enjoy a vibrant education and allowing more children to go out. In the countryside, sharing the opportunity to shine in life, using love, wisdom and sweat to block the intergenerational transmission of poverty, so that countless peasant children have the fate of breaking the singularity of outlets and the stereotype of life, so that their lives have more destiny-changing possibility.

Whether it is the continuous improvement of wages, the increasing number of training exchange opportunities, or the increasing intensity of professional title evaluation and appointment to rural teachers, in recent years, rural teachers have gained more and more respect and value recognition.

However, there are still a few rural teachers like Jiang Shengfa who have not received enough compassion and care.

To provide Jiang Shengfa with an institutionalized channel of acceptance so that they can realize their dream of becoming a positive person as soon as possible, reflecting the goodwill and warmth of a society.

The famous educator Mr. Tao Xingzhi once said, "Rural teachers are the soul of reforming rural life."

Regardless of whether they are seen or not, many rural teachers are teaching and educating people in obscurity; the podium and blackboard of rural teachers are related to the destiny of thousands of peasant children and the future of the country and nation.

Use more quality rural education to activate social mobility, and let the countryside and the city join hands to enter modern China.

To respect and treat rural teachers well is to care for China's future.
