New Zealand politician goes on her bike to the maternity hospital!

New Zealand, famous for its humble and pragmatic politicians, witnessed a new reality in which a parliamentarian from the Green Party was party.

Parliamentarian Julie Ann Genter's labor pains surprised her early Sunday morning, after which she rode her bike to the hospital, where she gave birth to a baby girl.

Hours later, Ginter said on her Facebook page, "Good news...at 3.04 am we welcomed the newest member of our family."

"The contractions weren't strong when we left at 2 a.m. to go to the hospital — although the interval between contractions was between two and three minutes and they started to increase by the time we got there ten minutes later," Ginter said.

Local media said Ginter, her party's transportation spokeswoman, whose Facebook profile includes the phrase "I love my bike" - also cycled to the hospital in 2018 to give birth to her first child.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern became the first prime minister in New Zealand's history to take maternity leave and the second prime minister in the world to give birth while in office after the late Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, and she took her three-month-old daughter with her to a United Nations meeting where she was not Still breastfeeding her.
