The ferocious crocodile in the eyes of outsiders is the magic weapon for Deng Shuihai, the "post-80s" in Guangxi.

Relying on the crocodile breeding industry, he earns one million yuan a year, which drives farmers to "gold for gold" in the characteristic breeding industry.

A few days ago, the reporter came to the Shenghui Crocodile Breeding Base in Guling Village, Shatang Town, Liubei District, Liuzhou City, Guangxi.

It covers an area of 150 acres, and there are tens of thousands of Thai crocodiles lurking in dozens of large and small pools.

In the afternoon, the sun was just right, and crocodiles were lying on the shore in groups to soak up the sun. Some crocodiles were sleeping soundly with their mouths open, and no one even noticed them when they approached.

Deng Shuihai, who was accompanied by crocodiles, was born in a family of crocodiles.

Deng Shuihai's father used to breed crocodiles in Cambodia and then brought this characteristic industry back to Guangxi.

Deng Shuihai remembered that every holiday he was ordered by his father to put on water shoes and sit in front of the stall to guard the crocodile.

For this, he was indignant.

“At that time, I felt that my childhood was deprived of crocodiles, and I hated crocodiles very much,” Deng Shuihai said.

After graduating from junior high school, Deng Shuihai wandered around in order to escape the crocodile.

"I have done logistics and clothing business, just to stay away from the crocodile industry." In 2001, Deng Shuihai, who had repeatedly bumped into walls outside, returned to Liuzhou to take over the crocodile industry.

Although I have been in contact with crocodiles since I was young, I still have to learn from the beginning to get into this business.

"Crocodiles are fierce in nature and have sharp teeth. Even small crocodile seedlings can hurt people." Deng Shuihai said that usually feeding and catching crocodiles take risks.

Deng Shuihai's hands were full of scars from crocodile bites.

"Generally, crocodiles don't take the initiative to attack people, but they will inevitably be frightened when caught." Once, Deng Shuihai and a colleague caught a crocodile together, and the crocodile was frightened and gave him a bite.

"I was bitten so bad that I went to the hospital to have 6 stitches."

For this reason, Deng Shuihai constantly explored and understood the crocodile habits during the breeding process, looking for patterns, and trying to avoid being injured by them.

At the same time, in order to prevent the crocodile from escaping, they set up a 2-meter-high stone wall and built barbed wire in the pond in the farm to protect it.

Although there are certain risks, the "poop shoveling officer" of the crocodile has almost no technical content.

According to Deng Shuihai, the crocodile is big but eats less, and the "recipe" is very simple. It is enough to eat one meal a day, sometimes even ten days and a half months without feeding.

In addition, the crocodile has strong survivability and low requirements for water quality. It basically does not need to spend time to change the water, and it is not easy to get sick.

Deng Shuihai was broadcasting live by the crocodile pond.

Deng Shuihai calculated an account: In addition to the initial investment in crocodile farming, there will be basically no loss in the later stage.

The whole body of Thai crocodile is a treasure, its meat is delicious, and the price starts at 50 yuan per catty; if the crocodile dies unfortunately, it can be made into a specimen, a piece of tens of thousands to tens of thousands of yuan; crocodile skin can be further processed into leather bags, leather goods and other products; Crocodile seedlings, crocodile eggs, etc. can be sold, and the annual income of its breeding industry reaches one million yuan.

Nowadays, Deng Shuihai is constantly integrating new methods, using new media platforms such as live broadcast and Douyin to let more people know about crocodile farming and carry forward his ancestral career.

In Deng Shuihai's Douyin, more than 600 short videos are related to crocodiles.

By publishing crocodile breeding, catching crocodile, and bathing crocodile is equal to crocodile's daily life, it has gained nearly 80,000 fans' attention and 360,000 likes.

Previously, China approved three types of crocodiles, including the Nile crocodile, the gulf crocodile and the Siamese crocodile (commonly known as Thai crocodile), to be included in the first batch of 54 commercially available wild animals.

Every day, vendors from Guangdong, Henan, and Shandong drove to Liuzhou to buy crocodiles raised in Deng Shuihai.

He also provided crocodile seedlings to more farmers for free, and brought more farmers to enter the industry "gold rush".
