A wolf roamed Paris for the first time in 30 years

A wolf was seen in the greater Paris region for the first time in nearly 30 years.

The National Biodiversity Authority has officially confirmed that the observed animal is a wolf, Le Parisien reported on Saturday.

A hunter discovered the animal in Blaro, about 50 kilometers from the capital, and took a picture of it.

The number of wolves currently living in the wild in France is estimated to be around 600. However, the animals usually avoid the Ile-de-France region, which is centered in Paris.

The newspaper "Le Parisien" reported that the authorities called on residents to remain calm.

She explained that there is no need to be afraid of the wolf when walking in natural places, as the risk of being bitten by a neighbor's dog increases the risk of being bitten by a wolf.

For dog owners, they said the wolf was more likely to view the wandering dog as a playmate than a competitor.

However, conflicts cannot be ruled out.
