The weather on Sunday will remain unstable with snow and sleet over a good part of the country, except on the Mediterranean rim which will remain sunny, according to Météo-France.

Eleven departments have been placed on snow and ice orange vigilance: Ain, Isère, Savoie, Haute-Savoie, Corrèze, Creuse, Puy-de-Dôme, Ariège, Haute-Garonne, the Pyrénées-Atlantiques and Hautes-Pyrénées.

Snow and mistral precipitation

During the night of this Saturday to Sunday, snowfall is expected in particular in Limousin, Auvergne, and the Alps.

Some snowfall will also affect the Grand-Est and Franche-Comté.

Sunday, the Mediterranean rim will retain a fairly generous amount of sunshine but the mistral and tramontane will blow from 70 to 90 km / h.

Instability will remain in Corsica, the clouds will dominate bringing sometimes stormy showers, accompanied by a westerly wind blowing up to 100 km / h over the exposed capes.

Beware of ice

From Hauts-de-France to Île-de-France, the morning will be very gloomy, before an improvement in the afternoon, the showers regressing markedly except in the east of Hauts-de-France and the Paris basin.

From the North-East to Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, the showers will always be topical throughout the day.

At the end of the episode, a good accumulation is expected on the relief, up to 10/20 cm on the Vosges mountains, above 500m, 20 to 40 cm on the Jura always above 400/500 m.

On the Alps and the Massif Central, there will be snowfall, with an accumulation of 15 to 30 cm beyond 500 m and in the alpine valleys 10 to 20 cm for 40 above 800 m, on the alpine relief . The Montagne Noire will also be impacted with good snowfall from 800 m altitude. The clouds will hang over the Pyrenees, where it will snow beyond 400 to 600m on the east of the chain, 600 to 800m further west. Four Pyrenean departments are in vigilance orange snow and ice for the whole day of Sunday with a snowpack of 5 to 10 cm above 500 m and 20 to 40, locally 60 cm at an altitude above 800 m.

The northwesterly wind will still blow between 60 and 80 km / h on the Channel coasts at the start of the day. The minimum will be between -2 and +2 degrees in the northern half, up to Rhône-Alpes, up to 1 to 3 in the Breton interior. On the coast, the thermometer will show milder temperatures of 4 to 5 degrees. In the south, it will be between 0 and + 1 degree in the north of New Aquitaine, -1 to +1 degree in the Rhône valley and 2 to 4 elsewhere. The maximums will range from 2 to 5 degrees in the Northeast, 4 to 7 elsewhere, up to 8/11 near the coasts of the Atlantic and the Mediterranean, up to 12 to 14 near the coast of the Corsica.
