After showing his picture, price and specifications.. Egyptian security arrests a "father" who sold his son

A state of shock pervaded the Helwan region in Egypt, yesterday, after a father offered his 5-year-old child for sale on Facebook.

This prompted the security services to act, as they arrested the father yesterday.

Later, the Ministry of Interior announced that the Organized Crime Unit of the Cairo Security Directorate had arrested a father for offering his child for sale, in exchange for a sum of money on the social networking site under the guise of adoption.

It also indicated that the security services received information that the person offered his child for sale or adoption, through his personal page on Facebook, displaying his picture and specifications.

After legalizing the procedures, a security force was able to arrest him, and it was found that he resides in the Helwan area with his 5-year-old son.

The Cairo Security Directorate also revealed that the father had a criminal record.

The ministry explained that the father confessed to his act after confronting him during the investigations, saying that he was going through financial hardship that prompted him to offer his son for sale under the guise of adoption.
